Our puppies are properly socialized with 3 children, Alexis, Allison, and Madison have acquired a love for the breed and have been showing since they were very young! We start the babies on the bird wing at 7 weeks.   During the summer the babies are introduced to the water and learn how to swim at 7 weeks as well (depending on weather conditions).   We also introduce them to new atmospheres, smells and activities so they are very acclimated and relaxed going into their new homes.  We begin working on crate training and potty training with them as well. While some will take some time to adjust to the new routine once they go into their new homes, it's a great start to the foundation of their basic training. We do not offer training programs, nor do we keep the puppy longer for training.

Once the babies turn 5-6 weeks of age, we begin to evaluate their personalities.  Unlike most breeders we allow you to choose your puppy and decide on your own registered name, although Afterhours does come first. The picking process is determined by deposit number/date received.  Once the picking process begins we will send you a detailed description with pictures and videos of each puppy that is available   Once you decide, the puppy will be held until 8 weeks of age.  The puppy must be picked up at this time because this is an important age for training and socialization.  When the puppies arrive we will give you a timeframe of when the puppies will be ready for their new homes.  At 8 weeks of age the puppies receive their Florida Certified Health Certificate by a veterinarian, this includes their first set of shots: Distemper, Bordetella (kennel cough vaccine) and deworming They also receive a negative fecal.  The puppies are dewormed at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks!

Please be aware that we do NOT allow tours of our property at anytime. This is our home and our hobby, not a business We are happy to meet you at a dog show that we will be attending, however, due to Parvo virus, we do not allow visitors, especially when we have babies. Parvo in puppies is caused by the canine parvovirus. This virus is highly contagious and spreads through direct contact with an infected dog or by indirect contact with a contaminated object. Your puppy is exposed to the parvovirus every time he sniffs, licks, or consumes infected feces. Indirect transmission occurs when a person who has recently been exposed to an infected dog touches your puppy, or when a puppy encounters a contaminated object, like a food or water bowl, collars and leashes, and the hands and clothing of people who handle infected dogs. You can pick this up at a pet store and not even know it since it is airborne.  The Merck Veterinary Manual classifies the virus as a disease of the stomach and small intestines, as this is where the virus does the most damage. The virus prefers to infect the small intestine, where it destroys cells, impairs absorption, and disrupts the gut barrier. Parvo in puppies also affects the bone marrow and lymphopoietic tissues, and in some cases can also affect the heart. Parvo has no cure and can be extremely difficult to save a puppy or an entire litter.  Please understand our concern, we put the health of our dogs and puppies first and foremost.  If you have any concerns please reach out.  If you'd like to meet us at a dog show we can provide upcoming shows that we will be attending and set up a time there.

Afterhours Kennel strives to breed dogs that have all their health certificates and are tested to be health certified free of hip & elbow dysplasia, thyroid, cardiac and CERF by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA). At Afterhours Kennels we focus on correct breed type & conformation, great temperament, natural working ability and an all-around versatile & hard-working dog. All of our puppies are not sold with breeding rights and we recommend spaying and neutering once the dog is mature.  We actually have the most completely health tested (CHIC) GWP's than any other GWP breeder!

Due to COVID-19 Airlines have made it increasingly difficult to ship puppies via cargo. We can fly with the puppy to your airport and deliver them right to your arms, they travel with us in cabin. We can meet you right outside security when the plane arrives. Prices vary depending on ticket prices. Families are also welcome to fly to our nearest airport (MCO/Orlando or GNV/Gainesville) and we meet them at the airport, then you can catch a return flight back home.

If you are interested in one of our puppies we ask that you fill out the application and send a deposit of $200 (non-refundable) to Christi Chism. The deposit can be made via Venmo or check. Please contact us before sending the deposit to ensure availability and that you are suitable home for a GWP.
