Please complete the Puppy Application!

Our puppies are properly socialized with my 3 children.  Alexis, Allison, and Madison have acquired a love for the breed and have been showing since they were very young! We start the babies on the bird wing at 7 weeks.   During the summer the babies are introduced to the water and learn how to swim at 7 weeks as well (depending on weather conditions).

Once the babies turn 4-6 weeks of age, we begin to evaluate their personalities.  Unlike most breeders we allow you to choose your puppy and decide on your own registered name, although Afterhours does come first. The picking process is determined by deposit number/ date received.  Once the picking process begins we will send you a detailed description with pictures of each puppy.  Once you decide, the puppy will be held until 8 weeks of age.  The puppy must be picked up at this time because this is an important age for training and socialization.  When the puppies arrive we will give you a timeframe of when the puppies will be ready for their new homes.  At 8 weeks of age the puppies receive their Florida Certified Health Certificate by a veterinarian, this includes their first set of shots, Bordetella (kennel cough vaccine) and deworming.  The puppies are dewormed at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks!

Please be aware that we do NOT allow tours of our property at anytime. This is our home and our hobby, not a business We are happy to meet you at a dog show that we will be attending, however, due to Parvo virus, we do not allow visitors, especially when we have babies. Parvo in puppies is caused by the canine parvovirus. This virus is highly contagious and spreads through direct contact with an infected dog or by indirect contact with a contaminated object. Your puppy is exposed to the parvovirus every time he sniffs, licks, or consumes infected feces. Indirect transmission occurs when a person who has recently been exposed to an infected dog touches your puppy, or when a puppy encounters a contaminated object, like a food or water bowl, collars and leashes, and the hands and clothing of people who handle infected dogs. You can pick this up at a pet store and not even know it since it is airborne.

The Merck Veterinary Manual classifies the virus as a disease of the stomach and small intestines, as this is where the virus does the most damage. The virus prefers to infect the small intestine, where it destroys cells, impairs absorption, and disrupts the gut barrier. Parvo in puppies also affects the bone marrow and lymphopoietic tissues, and in some cases can also affect the heart. Parvo has no cure and can be extremely difficult to save a puppy or an entire litter.  Please understand our concern, we put the health of our dogs and puppies first and foremost.  If you have any concerns please reach out.  If you'd like to meet us at a dog show we can provide upcoming shows that we will be attending and set up a time there.

Afterhours Kennel strives to breed dogs that have all their health certificates and are tested to be health certified free of hip & elbow dysplasia, thyroid, cardiac and CERF by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA). At Afterhours Kennels, we only breed German Wirehaired Pointers (GWP's) so we can focus on correct breed type & conformation, great temperament, natural working ability and an all-around versatile & hard-working dog. All of our puppies are sold on limited registration meaning they do not have breeding rights and they must be spayed/neutered.   We actually have the most completely health tested (CHIC) GWP's than any other GWP breeder!

Shipping via Delta or United Airlines is available for an additional $450.  This price includes airfare, crate, and the bowl.  The babies will be flown out of Gainesville Regional Airport (GNV) or Orlando (MCO) depending on weather conditions, at the earliest morning flight, this allows them to arrive in the afternoon/evening.  The babies can be shipped anywhere Delta/United flies.  We make all the reservations on our end, all you have to do is show up at the airport!

If you are interested in one of our puppies we ask that you fill out the application and send a deposit of $200 (non-refundable) to Christi Chism. The deposit can be made via Venmo or check. Please contact us before sending the deposit to ensure availability and that you are suitable home for a GWP.
